Did you know there are ghosts haunting the old canals? Amsterdam has a long history filled with mysterious legends and frightening stories.
Spooks wander the old historical city shores, miracles happen in the Kalverstraat and the Bloedstraat (Bloodstreet) is well known for its liquidations and criminals. Discover sagas from the Dark Ages, fables from present day and predictions for the future. This 'spooky' arrangement is all about Dark Amsterdam. The guests will be taken by our guide for a ghost tour through the dark heart of the old city centre. We’ll visit areas around Dam Square, Amstel River, Rembrandt Square and Newmarket.
We do not disguise us as ghosts, but the guide will make it spooky by telling all the 'dark' stories. During the city walk we will have a break in a warm bar or a historical 17th century liqueur bodega. Enjoy a beer or one of the Old Dutch Liquors. Discover the tastes and names of these liqueurs like ‘Bitter Suffering Comfort’ or ‘Little Hans in the Basement’.
The tour takes about two hours. After the walk, the guests will enjoy a three course dinner at Variété Restaurant Casablanca. This restaurant, situated on the Sea dike, has had its own ghosts for years! Watch out for the little theatre on the first floor, you might be chosen... After a satisfying dinner with show, the guests have the opportunity to enjoy a drink in one of the many cute bars along the eventful Sea dike, or somewhere else in the 'dark' area.
