Observe Amsterdam from beautiful heights. This guided tour will take you around the most splendid panoramas of the city. In the 17th century you could see Amsterdam from far away because of its high city towers and walls. This sight illustrated the wealth and dimension of the city. The many towers served as clocks, ornaments but especially as fire watch.
These towers have been watching over Amsterdam for centuries and they all have their various special stories. The guide will tell you about the origin of the towers, but also about the remarkable facts and happenings surrounding them.
The city walk will take you to the numerous beautiful churches and towers Amsterdam has, like the famous Western Church. There can be a climb included in the tour (optional) and we’ll have a drink at one of the many cosy bars and cafés like the ‘Waag’; a medieval Weigh House full of history and where Rembrandt painted one of his masterpieces ‘The Anatomy Lessons of Doctor Tulip’.
A perfect way to see Amsterdam from great heights and learn more about the wondrous history, canal area and famous buildings.
The Climbing of a Monumental Tower is optional. We can climb "The old church tower" (max about 6 persons per shift) or the "Southern Church" (max about 10 persons). Please book a tower climbing tour at least two weeks in advance.
