An informative excursion around the fascinating North-South Metro Line project in Amsterdam. A very radical and expensive subterranean subway-project with many different insights. During the tour, we will take a look at the construction pit followed by an informative walk, informative film and a short guided walk along the many construction places in the Old Centre.
The north-south line is the most expertise project of the Amsterdam Community and the State in years. What now takes about 50 minutes to get from Northern Amsterdam to Southern Amsterdam will be 15 minutes in 2020. This much-discussed subway line will, one day, transport 200.000 people straight through Amsterdam city centre.
With a price tag of more than 1.8 billion euros, the subway line will be 9.7 kilometres long (about 6 miles). Ground-drill devices, caisson methods, tunnel parts, famous building and constructing technics, town-planning and safety... all these subjects will be discussed during our guided tour. The guests will be welcomed in the information centre near Central Station where they will receive an explination of the excursion. A private guide will show them everything and there will be enough time for questions and interaction.
We can also combine this tour with a canal boat cruise (pub cruise).
