From the 17th century until 1940, Amsterdam was one of the most prominent Jewish centres of Europe. This guided city tour through the former Jewish Quarter will lead you through relics of this rich history. The tour begins near Central Station and ends at the Jewish Historical Museum. Housed in four former synagogues this museum is reputed to be one of the most beautiful jewish museums of its kind.
Along the route the guide will come accros locations which are famous in the jewish history. The Waterlooplein (flee)market, the Portuguese-Israeli home, Rembrand Museum, Russian shul, Jodenbreestraat, Auschwitz monument, Diamond factories, Hollandsche Schouwburg, Pintohome, Dokwerker memorial statue and the Portuguese Synagogue, one of the largest synagogues in the world.
