Museums:
“A visit to the Van Gogh Museum is a unique experience. The museum contains the largest collection of paintings by Vincent van Gogh in the world. It provides the opportunity to keep track of the artist's developments, or compare his paintings to works by other artists from the 19th century in the collection. The museum also holds an extensive offer of exhibitions on various subjects from 19th-century art history.”
“From June 20th 2009, 10 a.m., a major new European cultural destination, the greatly expanded Hermitage Amsterdam, will welcome visitors to its elegantly restored 17th-century building in the historic heart of Amsterdam. Founded to bring the richness and grandeur of Russia’s artistic heritage to one of the West’s most charming capitals, this independent cultural institution will inaugurate its spacious new home - ten times the size of the previous building - with the exhibition At the Russian Court, a dazzling display of more than 1,800 treasures from the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg.”
“This grand museum houses Dutch Masterpieces like the great ‘Night watch’ by Rembrandt van Rijn, famous paintings highlighting the Golden Age. Currently partially under construction (‘till 2013) but these masterpieces are still on display for art lovers and culture fans.”
“This is one of the most popular sights in Amsterdam, and for good reason. This former hiding place, where Anne Frank wrote her worldly known diary, is now a well-known museum. The museum tells the history of the eight people in hiding and those who helped them during the Second World War. Anne Frank's diary is among the original objects on display.”
“The Erotic museum reflects what it is all about in the Red Light District. Five floors of erotic enjoyment plus a collection of erotic art from all over the world. Old masters and modern time artists give their view on erotica with their paintings and other art forms. A floor with a realistic copy of 'The street life' shows the original entrance of the Casa Rosso Theatre as it was in the old days. A floor with unique erotic postcards, photos and more then 500 erotica books. A special fairytale corner with erotic videos will give you a look at the funny side of erotica. Not to mention a complete floor of Sado Masochistic objects and scenes. The erotic Museum is a must in your program to visit the Red Light District. It will surprise you!!”
